Recent Staff Training

Recently staff attended the Nursery World Conference in Liverpool which was a conference relating to developments in Early Years. We are also sending room leaders as representatives of Smarties to the Childcare Expo in Manchester in June.
Dawn and Annie were kindly invited in the Timpson Managerial course, where they spent 2 days improving their managerial skills and are already implementing some of the ideas they picked up, – our staff ‘Above and Beyond Award’ for staff recognition is one of them.

Hannah from 3-4’s has almost finished her Forest School Training and will continue to work alongside John and Lin (2-3s) developing new and exciting experiences for the children outside.
Loggerheads national park were kind enough to donate some more wood and we have some new areas being developed including an insect house!
Hannah and Lin attended a workshop at Chester Zoo called ‘Wildlife Connections’ where they brought back some great ideas including how to build a log pile house and how to create areas for bee spotting.

Lisa (Special Educational Needs Officer) and Mandy F have attended a course called WellComm. This is a complete speech and language toolkit which will aid the staff in improving children’s language, assessing communication skills and identifying any children who need immediate refferal  or support. Lisa and Mandy will disseminate the information to all staff in the nursery, and will continually support keypersons in this area. We have purchased the WellComm resources to support the programme which will be a huge benefit to staff and children alike.
