Very busy astronauts!
Well the children are still very interested in space, working together, making rockets and moon buggies out of blocks and pretending to be astronauts.
Some children brought in rockets they have made at home and shared with us how they made them. The children have also made aliens out of play dough, potatoes and fruit – deciding how many eyes and legs to give them!
We also did some demonstrations of how crates are formed on the moon and we made our own volcano using vinegar and bicarb of soda. ( see the instructions in the photographs, click to enlarge).
The children have enjoyed counting backwards from 10 and acting as astronauts floating in space. They have also used their senses to see what ingredients formed the space soil and then created their own to take home.
Finally the children made their own telescopes to see the night sky and some learnt to sew to create their aliens.
