Our interests this week – Butterflies, bridges and perfumes!
Our friends in the blue group noticed some butterflies fluttering outside. They looked closely at different patterns on the different types of butterfly wings, using the iPad. They then made their own butterfly pictures, printing them to make them symmetrical.
One of the children, during news time, shared that he had been Strawberry picking at the weekend with his family. This week we plan to look at healthy and unhealthy foods, and what we need to do keep ourselves fit and healthy.
The green group enjoyed making perfumes and potions this week. We went for walk around nursery looking for different herbs and petals for our perfume. They used water with the bits they had collected, mixing them together and pouring them into different containers. We are going to extend this and introduce different textures and scents to create new potions! We will share our creations.
The red group have been building different ramps and bridges for the cars. We have a new bus and helicopter to play with, we are so lucky. We have had races down the ramps that we created, seeing which vehicles would go the fastest. The big bus doesn’t go as fast as the racing car!
We have re-introduced some Makaton signs this week, practicing the sign for our names and remembering our welcome song. We have been using a talking stone for when we want to share news and information during group times. This helps us to listen to our friends and wait our turn when wanting to share our stories.
