Our Letters of the week
As I am sure the children have been telling you, we have been concentrating on a letter of the week each week this term.
So far we have covered S, A, T, P and this week is I.
We have had fun coming up with activities based on each sound.
S – Snakes! We made snakes using paper plates, practicing our cutting skills cutting around and around.
A – Apples! We read the ‘Apples up on top’ story. We balanced apples on our heads, built towers & printed pictures with them.
– Animals! The children loved building their own farms. They selected the resources they would need to keep the animals safe and worm. We then went for a walk down the lane to the farm to see the horse and the donkey.
T – Towers! The children have created some amazing castles with tall towers
– Tea! We explored different flavoured fruit teas, making tea for our friends in the water tray and mark making with loose tea.
P – Pirates! We built pirate ships in the block area, made our own eye patches and treasure maps. We went on a treasure hunt and found biscuits inside a treasure chest! We also attempted some pirate yoga!
I – Ice! We built igloos and towers using ice cubes, balancing them on top of each other, melting ice using warm water sprays, playing I spy and making pretend ice-cream cones. We used Rea tools to break the big balls of ice and went on an insect hunt.
In sports with Dan we have loved practicing our ball skills, rolling, kicking and catching. Click on the pictures for a closer look.
