Forest School Treats

Today in forest school we made some delicious treats. We helped John to make a fire, collecting and breaking sticks and twigs to make them small enough for our little camp fire. We discussed some of the risks and dangers and then practiced keeping safe talking about the rules around our fire.

We each took a turn to toast a marshmallow in the fire and then remembered “…you have to blow 10 times so it’s not too hot to eat!”

The children collected water to fill the kettle and watched with anticipation as they waited to hear the whistle blow when it was ready!  One of our friends mixed the chocolate into the water and poured the hot chocolate into the cups.

After our treats, the children played in the mud pretending to make “exploding hot chocolate”  They even found an “exploding chocolate tree!” the children had so much fun re- living their chocolate experience!
