What’s New in 3-4’s … 21/7/10

Last week we enjoyed talking about pirates.  Some of the children came into nursery wearing their pirate costumes and the children suggested activities that we could do.  These ranged from going on a treasure hunt to making pirate ships from junk.  The children have also created treasure maps, parrots, pirate hats and have made their own necklaces.
Also last week we enjoyed tasting some of the fruit and vegetables that we have grown as we continue to water them and observe them growing.
Over the last couple of weeks we have begun to say goodbye to some of our friends who are going on to school this September.  We wish them all well and are whilst we are sorry to see them go are sure they will love the new adventure of school.

What’s New in the 3-4’s … 30/6/10

Over the last few weeks we have been talking about the football World Cup and South Africa.  We have practiced our ball skills scoring lots of penalties, watching African dances on the internet and painting pictures of Table Mountain in South Africa.  We also had a visit form Steve who brought all his drums to show us.  We all had fun participating in a drum circle following each others rhythms and playing alongside african music. The children and the staff have all enjoyed the lovely warm weather and have made full use of all our extensive grounds and fantastic new play equipment including three willow wigwams!
Just a reminder to parents to please put suncream on their children before they come into nursery.  We then add more suncream as required (weather permitting) through the day.  Thank you very much.

Sunny Days, Sun Cream and Hats … 20/5/2010

We have bought the suncream for the nursery and from the quantity we have we hope it is going to be very sunny!! We have chosen Boots soltan factor 50.  As in previous years please can we ask that children arrive with suncream on. We will then reapply suncream mid morning to face and neck.  After lunch we will totally cover any exposed areas on the children in suncream. If it remains very hot at tea time we will assess the situation and re-apply cream if we think it is necessary. Please inform the staff if your child has not had suncream put on in the morning.

HATS
Please could all children have a named hat in nursery during the sunny weather.

Water Play 23/04/2010

Water play is a fun outdoor activity which is a good practice and a great learning activity.

Although we will try our best to keep the children dry it isn’t always possible.

We do use aprons and wellingtons but accidents do happen.

Please can we ask that all parents to bring in a bag of spare clothes for their child and name all items inside.

The children do love water play so much so we thank you so much for your cooperation.
