Fun with 2-3’s – 16/07/2010

We have been learning about Yoga this week with George the gorilla and Leo the lion.
We have learnt different poses through story telling. Please have a go at home and see if the children can remember the poses.

One sunny day George the gorilla was standing in the rain.
1st pose – Tapping  -fingers tapping on your head, then travelling over your face, down your neck ,
fists on chest making gorilla noise, then tapping continues down each arm, legs, toes and then back up again.
Its stopped raining so George went in his rowing boat to find his friend Leo the Lion.
2nd pose – Rowing - sit on the floor legs out in front, bend one leg up and hold with two hands, move arms and legs up and down
3rd pose – Crocodile - lie on your with your arm above your head , bring top arm and leg up and snap them down.
Snappy the crocdile  made Freddie the frog jump off the lily pad into the water.
4th pose – Frog – open feet, bend down hands between feet palm on floor, jump up and down making a frog noise.
George still couldn’t find his friend Leo the lion, but what was that noise?
5th pose – Lion – Sit in heel position, seperate knees a bit. Put hands on top of legs and spread fingers. As you breathe
out stick out tongue towards chest and open eyes wide.
George walked through the trees but still couldn’t see Leo. George felt a bit tired so sta for a rest.
6th pose – The twist – Sit with crossed legs both hands on one knee. Turn your head and look over your shoulders.
There was Leo the lion. George was so happy that he had found his friend. It had been a long day so they lay down for a rest.
7th pose – Breathing - place toy on tummies rising and falling as you breathe in and out. Close your eyes and imagine
all of the lovely colours he may had seen on his adventure.
When ready lie on your side, sit up and cross legs and say to yourself , ” I feel happy and calm!”

Fun with the 18 months – 16/7/2010

Welcome to all of the new children that have come over from babies, you have all settled in really well!

Well done to - Oscar, Matthew, Ievan, Guy and Abigail.

We are really glad to have Music Meg back because she brightens up our week with her songs and toys.
We are enjoying singing;
‘5 Little lambs’  – the children take it in turns when their name is called to collect a fluffy lamb.
And
‘5 Little Speckled frogs’ – when their name is called the children jump onto a lily pad and everyone shouts ’splash’.

We have done some lovely butterfly paintings – we painted one side then folded them over for a lovely
symmectrical pattern.

We have also done some hedgehog gluing and sticking using pasta and some messy play outside with
shaving foam and the tea set, ………..’frothy tea anyone?’

This week we have made the most of the lovely warm weather and have spent nearly all our time outside!  We had Music with Meg outside, meals outside and lots of play on the fabulous array of outdoor play equipment!
Just a reminder to parents to please put suncream on their children before they come into nursery.  We then add more suncream as required (weather permitting) through the day.  Thank you very much.

What Happening in 18 months to 2’s … 30/6/10

We have been enjoying out new and improved outdoor areas and making the most of the lovely weather by spending as much time outside as we can.  We have been playing on the swings and in our new car which we can fill with water.  We have been taking differeny toys and activities down to the swings area.  We also have an open air nappy changing area there which the children found quite funny.
One of our parents kindly gave us a dolls house and dressing up table from home and the children have enjoyed playing with these new toys.  They love sitting and brushing their hair!
Just a reminder to parents to please put suncream on their children before they come into nursery.  We then add more suncream as required (weather permitting) through the day.  Thank you very much.

Sunny Days, Sun Cream and Hats … 20/5/2010

We have bought the suncream for the nursery and from the quantity we have we hope it is going to be very sunny!! We have chosen Boots soltan factor 50.  As in previous years please can we ask that children arrive with suncream on. We will then reapply suncream mid morning to face and neck.  After lunch we will totally cover any exposed areas on the children in suncream. If it remains very hot at tea time we will assess the situation and re-apply cream if we think it is necessary. Please inform the staff if your child has not had suncream put on in the morning.

HATS
Please could all children have a named hat in nursery during the sunny weather.
